LEDucation 2020 invites designers, educational leaders, innovative thinkers and industry influencers to share their knowledge and expertise on subjects related to commercial and architectural lighting. Based on research suggesting a correlation between building design and human health and wellness, in 2013 Delos created the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), which launched the WELL Building Standard. As of March 2019, more than 1,500 projects encompassing 315 million sq.ft. in 48 countries have been designed to WELL certification.
High Society, a sustainable design start-up based in Italy, is creating plant-based lighting using post-industrial waste. Hemp leftovers, discarded leaves and stalks from tobacco cultivation, and pomace made using the solid remains of wine production are each responsible for creating a different hue of the three available versions.
The International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD), through its Energy + Sustainability (E+S) Committee, rapidly responded to the District of Columbia Energy Conservation Code Supplement of 2017, submitting comments within days after learning about the proposed modifications to the current codes on 26 August 2019.
