As public spaces become increasingly connected, designers, municipalities, and developers face a growing challenge: how to integrate the technologies that support safety, communication, mobility, and connectivity without overwhelming the landscape. Landscape Forms is addressing that need with a significant refresh of SHUFFLE, its modular smart pole platform developed by Schréder.
The refreshed SHUFFLE platform expands the possibilities of smart infrastructure by bringing multiple technologies together within a single architectural solution. Combining lighting, cameras, speakers, Wi-Fi, sensors, intercom systems, and EV charging in one customizable structure, SHUFFLE helps reduce visual clutter while creating more connected, responsive outdoor environments.
Designed to adapt to the changing needs of public spaces, SHUFFLE allows specifiers to configure up to five technology modules within a single pole. Its patented rotating modules enable each component to be independently positioned to optimize performance while maintaining a clean, cohesive appearance. Factory assembly, wiring, and testing further simplify installation and help accelerate deployment in the field.
The refresh introduces an expanded range of modules and capabilities, including a 360-degree area light, decorative light ring, 180-degree area light, quad-view and 180-degree camera options, motion sensors, loudspeakers, intercom functionality, and electric vehicle charging. These additions give designers and operators greater flexibility to tailor solutions to the unique requirements of each site.
“SHUFFLE was designed to flex with the evolving needs of public spaces,” said Shannon Lee, Business Development Manager for Smart Poles at Schréder. “By integrating safety, connectivity, communication, and lighting into a single platform, communities can create smarter, more efficient environments without sacrificing the character of the space.”
The platform is well suited for a wide variety of applications, including university and corporate campuses, transportation hubs, healthcare facilities, parks, plazas, sports venues, mixed-use developments, and entertainment districts. By consolidating essential infrastructure into a single vertical element, SHUFFLE enables project teams to deliver more functionality while reducing the number of poles and standalone devices required throughout a site.
To support planning and specification, Landscape Forms has also introduced an online configurator that allows users to build and visualize project-specific SHUFFLE solutions. Designers can explore pole heights, module combinations, technology integrations, finishes, and layouts, making it easier to evaluate options and customize the platform to meet project goals.
As cities, campuses, and public spaces continue to adopt new technologies, the demand for infrastructure that is both adaptable and aesthetically integrated will only increase. With its latest refresh, SHUFFLE offers a flexible foundation for connected environments, helping designers accommodate today's needs while preparing for tomorrow's opportunities.
