At Lumetta, we’re committed to fostering both design excellence and community impact. Recently, we had the privilege of supporting DownCity Design through the donation of a Lumetta luminaire, designed to be both decorative and functional, while inspiring the next generation of designers. 

Our relationship with DownCity Design began when they accepted our acoustic lighting felt boards, which they’ve used in various projects. This collaboration has been mutually beneficial, helping us be responsible stewards of design while supporting our local design community by giving new life to materials we no longer need. 

Our partnership with DownCity Design aligns with our broader design sustainability efforts and our waste-not philosophy. This initiative is part of our commitment to reimagining materials that would otherwise go unused or discarded, transforming them into valuable resources for our community. By donating products like lighting and acoustic materials, we’re not only minimizing waste but also promoting creativity, learning, and art. 

As part of their renovation of the new Community Design Studio on Cranston Street in Providence, DownCity Design displayed our Echo Pendant in their office space. They held a special unveiling event, where they thanked all contributors, and we’re honored to have played a role in their inspiring work.  It looks fantastic, and we look forward to continuing our support of their mission to foster creativity and sustainability within our community” said Bowen Wheatley, Designer and Design City Collaborator for Lumetta.
